INTViewer Release 5.2

INTViewer 5.2 is an incremental update of INTViewer 5.1.1.

Release Highlights

Seismic

  • Seismic and velocity models align automatically by trace position in XSection windows.
  • Reporting tool for seismic metadata exports to CSV.
  • Interactive/graphical picking of normalization limits through the “normalization” widget or through seismic histograms.
  • Horizon and seismic calculator support header values as part of the formula.
  • Support for SEG-Y rev2 sample formats.
  • Seismic Generators are accessible from the Tools menu. A “resample” seismic generator has been added.
  • Improved File Explorer to open individual SEG-Y files with a custom mapping.

Window System

  • The default window system uses tabbed windows instead of frames. Set the INTVIEWER_WINDOW_SYSTEM environment variable to FRAMES to revert to frames.
  • Windows can be tiled horizontally, vertically, or follow a grid pattern (instead of just horizontally).
  • The auxiliary graph on top of XSection windows has become an auxiliary widget that can be resized and displayed along with other widgets. Other available XSection widgets are: magnifying glass, normalization, trace samples, and trace headers.
  • Well log windows also have auxiliary widgets to peek into numerical values of wells.

Analysis Tools

  • Faster access to analysis tools from the toolbar.
  • Finer control over the content of legends.
  • Annotations auto-hide in small windows.
  • No limit to the number of traces for all analysis tools.
  • Decimation is offered when the number of traces to analyse is high.
  • Improved cross-plots: Logarithmic option has been added, along with histogram windows.

Picking

  • The “Feature” menu has been renamed “Picking”.
  • More intuitive horizon picking and deletion.
  • Horizons can be interpolated from picks.

CRS

  • Easier-to-use CRS selection dialog; displays areas of use on a map.
  • A tool has been added to QC coordinates conversion.

Python Scripting

  • Python scripts can be configured to react to specific events.
  • The Python terminal supports auto completion.
  • An external Python Editor can be configured to edit Python files.
  • Python scripts can be saved directly from the Python terminal.
  • The Python API can be consulted as one document from the Python terminal.
  • Nodes from the Desktop window can be imported as Python variables with a simple drag and drop.

Other Changes

  • Improved support for session files: Invalid data paths can be fixed prior to loading a session file.
  • Each data type has its own default directory.
  • The reservoir plugin has been removed from the default distribution and is available as a free download from the update center instead.
  • All fonts can be controlled from one options dialog, making it easy to use INTViewer in projection rooms.

New Minimum Requirements

INTViewer now requires Java 7 or Java 8 (64 bits). Java 8 is preferred as Oracle is phasing out support for Java 7.

New Optional Plugins

(accessible from Tools → Manage Plugins → Available Plugins)
  • The “Slideshow” plugin makes interactive presentations of your data, or creates simple Python workflows.
  • The “SSH Server” plugin controls Python remotely through the SSH protocol
